OKLAHOMA SENATE OVERWHELMINGLY VOTES TO LIMIT HATE CRIME INVESTIGATIONS

Oklahoma State Senator Steve Russell presented an amendment on Wednesday that changed a bill to would form a taskforce to study the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association, and also inserted language that would make it optional for the state to share information on investigations into hate crimes.

Said Russell, who is upset that the bill was attached to a Department of Defense bill: "The bill gives the federal government power that was not given to them in the Constitution. I am aware of the supremacy of the federal government over state governments, but the federal requirements are vague enough for us to make actions. We just have to be very careful on how we proceed."

Yet another way hate-wielding people in power attempt to help Oklahoma take a few steps backward.

WHY IS OK REP. JASON NELSON CHANGING JUST 1 WORD OF A LAW BANNING...
Jason Nelson, the Republican Oklahoma state rep - who does not have gay face! - introduced HB 3408, called "An act relating to marriage" which would make it a felony for a minister of the gospel to solemnize a marriage not recognized by the state. Apparently their 2004 constitutional amendment codifying marriage as an exclusively heterosexual institution, banning civil unions and other legal protections for gay and lesbian people, and punishing any issuance of a marriage license to a same-sex couple weren't enough to "protect marriage." Now we have to throw ministers in jail for 1 to 5 years just to make quadruple sure.
